I am a Cambridge based mum of one, who studied Art in Cambridge until age 18. I was always advised to get a 'proper job' and so made the decision at this point not to continue my art education and instead to seek employment. My creative flair remained and I always hoped to pick up a paintbrush again someday!
I pursued various careers; as an Estate Agent and then later other positions in Retail Management and Sales.
It wasn't until I was on maternity leave in 2017 that I was finally was able to start exploring my artistic side once again. This is when my carpenter husband and I, purchased a property that would allow the space for him to have a workshop and me an art studio! :)
I started creating various crafts including resin jewellery which began my love with this medium. Fast forward to 2021 and I work part-time and look after my 3 year old son, but when free time allows I spend as much time in the studio as possible, honing my skills exploring acrylic art once again for over 20 years.
My work now is predominantly mixed media, abstract and fluid art. I love these techniques because there are no boundaries, I am free to go crazy with a paintbrush or palette knife! I never quite know at the start how the painting will end up when finished. I can just build up layers of interest and be totally creative. My work is inspired by many things, emotions, nature and the outdoors - anything really depending on my mood and what inspires me.
I like to think about ordinary things and present them in different ways, using embellishments, flow and texture to add interest to each piece.
